Blues in Britain review

Here is part of a review of my support slot back in August which appeared in Blues In Britain in September 2018:

Plumhall with Andy Craig 30thAugust 2018 Rothbury Roots

The evening started well with Glaswegian Andy Craig, now an adopted Northumbrian, singing a collection of self-penned songs mainly based on his life as a creative landscape, seascape and music photographer on the north east coast. The imagery of 'Sunrise' and 'All This Is Ours' captured as perfectly as it would have been through the lens of his camera. Andy's guitar playing is fluent and distinctive (as you would expect from someone from someone mentored by a local legend, Lindisfarne's Rod Clements, and tutored by Brooks Williams) however, the hard rocking blues of 'It's All About The Song' was uniquely Andy Craig.

A tune to remember

16th May was my Dad's birthday so I thought I would record this guitar piece that I wrote a few years back and that I dedicated to him when he died in October 2007.  It's also dedicated to my Aunt Jean who was like my 2nd Mum and also had her birthday today...

Recent shows

I'm really enjoying my weekly shows at HPB Lucker Hall and I get to meet so many people and I love to learn what my music and photography means to them.  It's the best feeling in the world looking out from the 'stage' to see people listening, watching and enjoying the show.

This week I also put on a show in Embleton for the public in the wonderful Parish Rooms - a really cosy, intimate venue.

This week saw the debut of the singing live along to a video idea.  It worked nicely so I'll maybe do a bit more of that to compliment the still photography.

Orkney Folk Festival

I've been accepted to play on the Open Stage at this year's Orkney Folk Festival.  It starts at 3pm on Sat 27th May in the Stromness Hotel.

I'm really looking forward to this, my first ever gig in Scotland.  It's very good to know that I've been selected after submitting one of my songs to the panel.

New Album released! "Sunrise"

I spent this weekend recording a bunch of my songs and tunes and have uploaded them as a new album on Bandcamp. "Sunrise" features all the music that I play at my weekly HPB photography shows and 'hard copies' on CDs are also available from my gigs.

Baa Club 24th Feb 2017

A great night at Baa Club near Bellingham last night.  I really enjoyed playing my support slot to an enthusiastic audience.  It's very special when people take the time to come up and say they've enjoyed my music and a few people said very encouraging things last night.  When my songs reach people that much it really means a lot.

The main act last night was Worry Dolls and they were very good indeed.  I really hope the girls get the success they deserve - they're a very talented pair.

Here's their website  WORRY DOLLS Go see 'em!

Thanks to Fiona Lander for the photo and to Paul Mason for the sound on the night and to both of them for organising the whole thing.
